Pages added

Spent a few hours updating the blog so there is now a page that lists our equipment, a back story (up until the blog started), and a page that shows our achievements and progress. We have decided to share the load when it comes to internet upkeep so I (Mac) will be looking after the blog and email, Steve will run the website and YouTube, and Jay is in charge of Facebook and SoundCloud.

I spent some time in Kosmic Music and Billie Hydes looking at audio interfaces for the recording gear - decided on an interface but unfortunately the one I want is all sold out... I bought 3 new sets of drum sticks instead.

I also went to work somewhere in the day as well!

Off to rehearsals at Steve's now - we need to get our application (and application fee) into Sonicbids for the chance to play at the next WAMi festival. Would be a great gig to play to get some exposure in WA.

Demo Mixing, Pro Tools 101 Course, Gig Booked for Sunday Night

Saturday night was spent in a studio mixing Fantasize for the Demo. Damien (engineer) has managed to put together a solid final mix for Fantasize which has more clarity and punch to it - we are really happy with this sound so hopefully the other 4 songs come out just as good in time to press the Demo. The new Fantasize track is on Soundcloud and will be on our Facebook and YouTube pages from tomorrow night.

I started the Pro Tools 101 course at Leederville Tafe last night - it was a loooong day... work until 5:30pm, straight to the Pro Tools course from 6 to 9:30, then to rehearsals until midnight! Tuesdays are going to be full on for the next 6 weeks while I complete the course, but it will be well worth the time and money invested to get up to speed on Pro Tools 9. I will actually be able to use my new iMac properly and get a lot more recording done.

We also started working on a new song last night. Got about 3 sections together which sound very groove orientated - will definitely be working on this more at rehearsals tomorrow.

"My Dear Friend" events management has booked us to play this Sunday at the Swan Lounge. Yeah!

Rehearsals tomorrow - will get the set sorted for Sunday, update the web sites, work on the new track and hopefully have some time to put towards the demo.

Gig #11

We played our 11th gig last night to a crowd of about 8 people. We only found out about the gig on Thursday so we didn't have time to prepare anything special. We decided to play a low key set - ditched the suits, had no prepared set list, no metronome, tiny drum kit... it was a lot of fun. This low key set up is definitely more suitable for smaller stages/venues - and a lot easier to prepare. I think we will try to polish this type of smaller set up and use it more often (saving the full show for venues that can handle it well).

Tonight we will be going over a new mix/master of our demo (Suitra). Also will be looking over the video recording of last night to see how we looked/sounded from the crowd p.o.v - and what can be improved.

Day 1 of Blog Complete

Ok I'm going to bed now. I've spent 3 hours on the blog tonight (after rehearsing for 2 hours for the gig tomorrow night) and need to get some beauty sleep before work at 8:30am.

I might have to leave work early so I can get home for a final practice, then a tune/polish/check of all the drums before getting ready for the gig. Might not be a big gig - there was less than 10 people at this venue last time - but it will give us a chance to experiment and get more comfortable on stage. Beggars can't be choosers, and as Steve said "it would be a shame to turn down a gig".

Blog Created

Here we go - the first post of many to come!

We want this to be a place for anyone to come to and watch the progress of our band Jincs.

We'll put as much detail in here as possible - hopefully you like some of our ideas, or have some suggestions for us to try. We are putting everything we have into this band so we hope you come along for the ride and enjoy ups and downs along the way to making it big.

Alright - off to Thursday rehearsals at Steve's to go over our last gig on Tuesday (at Mojo's Fremantle) and to get a set organised for the gig tomorrow night at the Swan Lounge.
